Real routines, real results - Rocky & Bella
Every dog is different - their lifestyle, their coat, their skin, and the way they're cared for day to day. These stories are a look into real routines, shared by dog parents who are navigating everything from muddy paws to weekly baths and ongoing skin care. Honest, practical, and lived, because good dog care is never one-size-fits-all.
Meet Rocky & Bella
Rocky is a four-year-old French Bulldog with a personality that fills every room he enters. He's cheeky, social, and endlessly entertaining, but underneath all that charisma is a dog with real emotional depth. His mum's favourite memory of him is a quiet moment on a Ponsonby street, where Rocky stopped mid-walk and simply sat with a stranger who'd just lost her dog. He just knew.
Bella is three, also a Frenchie, and very much her own woman. A devoted cuddler who is perfectly content to sit beside you through a work day, or just as as happy launching into zoomies with Rocky. Bella has a clear sense of who she likes on walks, and makes no apologies for it.
Together, they share a home with their parents Natalia and her partner, and by all accounts, life is full.
A Day in the Life
Mornings start in the super king bed - all four of them. Rocky would honestly prefer to stay there, but breakfast eventually wins him over. After a shared meal of Raw Essentials Venison mix, the family heads out for a walk. Rocky makes a beeline for the beach. Bella goes straight for the grass to roll in. They part ways for a bit, do their thing, then find their way back to each other.
Back home, it's freshen-up time. Bella hops straight into Natalia's lap. Rocky requires a brief chase from his Papa before he cooperates. Then the routine begins.
The Routine
What started as careful research before Rocky even came home has become a ritual that now spans over three and a half years, two dogs, and a full product lineup.
Each morning after their walk, both dogs get a paw soak applied to a facecloth and wiped all over with extra attention given to their faces and paws. A dry cloth follows, then balm on their noses and paws. It takes just a few minutes, but it means they're free of any irritants picked up on their outing and they smell lovely.
Once a week, it's shower time. Rocky and Bella come into the bathroom, stand on the bath mat, and wait their turn. Shampoo, rinse, then a thorough dry in Natalia's lap with a big towel. After that, the dry oil goes on for a glossy coat finish. Ears are checked and a dental stick is chewed to round things off in the routine.
How It Started
Natalia came to dog ownership with a significant fear of dogs - something that had stayed with her since childhood. Her partner encouraged her toward a Frenchie and before Rocky even came home, she was researching.
The breeder had flagged that French Bulldogs need particular care around their face folds, ears, and paws. Natalia also has her own skin sensitivities, so she was evaluating products for both of them. Fur Love balm was the only option she found that ticked every box - gentle enough for her, nourishing and protective enough for him.
At puppy class, she learned that weekly shampooing wasn't possible with most products on the market. Fur Love's shampoo solved that. Then at around six months, Rocky had a significant grass reaction on a trip away and the paw soak became a permanent part of their daily routine. The dry oil came later, driven by a desire for a little extra care and indulgence.
By the time Bella arrived, the routine was already established. She's grown up with it from day one.
The Result
Rocky and Bella's coats have always drawn comments. Natalia is the first to say she can't compare before and after, because Fur Love has been there since the beginning. She's certain that consistency is why things look and feel the way they do. No dryness, no irritation, and coats that get remarked on regularly by people who meet them.
The products have also quietly worked for Natalia herself - something a friend discovered a little too enthusiastically when she tried the full routine on herself. (Her curls, apparently, have never looked better.)
A Thoughtful Approach to Care
For Natalia, caring for Rocky and Bella has never been about reacting to problems. It's been about building something consistent from the start - products she trusts, a routine that fits into real life, and the knowledge that what's going on their skin is genuinely good for them.
