Five Ways to Use the Fur Love Paw & Body Soak

The Paw and Body Soak is one of our most versatile products, but if your dog takes one look at a bowl of water and walks the other way, you might not be getting the most out of it. The good news is that there are several ways to use it, and at least one of them will work for your dog.

Why Versatility Matters in Dog Skincare

No two dogs are the same, and no two bath time routines look the same either. Some dogs will happily stand in a tray of water for five minutes. Others treat a bowl on the floor like it's dangerous. The Paw and Body Soak was designed with this in mind. It's a no-rinse, alkaline formula with coconut and citrus that cleanses, soothes, and reduces redness however you choose to apply it.

The active ingredients do the work regardless of the method. What matters is finding the approach that works for you and your dog consistently, because regular use is what delivers lasting results.

The Paw and Body Soak works across multiple application methods so if one doesn't suit your dog, there's another that will.

What Happens If You're Not Cleansing Regularly

Paws and skin that aren't cleansed regularly after walks accumulate allergens, dirt, and environmental irritants that sit against the skin and trigger reactions. For dogs prone to itchy paws, redness, or recurring hotspots, this build-up is often the root cause of flare-ups. It doesn't mean there's something inherently wrong with their skin.

Regular cleansing removes those triggers before they have time to cause a reaction. The challenge for many dog owners isn't knowing they should do it - it's finding a method that's actually practical with their dog.

Consistent cleansing after walks is one of the most effective ways to reduce flare-ups, and it only works if the method suits your dog.

Five Ways to Use the Paw & Body Soak

  1. The Classic Soak - Add 2 tablespoons to a bath, bowl, sink, or tray filled with water just above paw height. Let your dog stand or soak for a few minutes, then pat dry. No rinsing needed. This is the most thorough option for dogs with active irritation or multiple paws affected at once.
  2. The Wipe Down - Add 2 tablespoons to a bowl of warm water, soak a towelette or flannel in the solution, and wipe down paws, legs, belly, or any area that needs attention. Pat dry. This works well for dogs who won't stand still, and it's a quick, low-fuss option after every walk.
  3. The Squeeze Method - Soak a cloth or flannel in the solution and squeeze the water directly over your dog's paws rather than immersing them. Some dogs are far more comfortable with water being poured over their paws than being asked to step into something. The result is the same except the formula reaches the skin without the standoff.
  4. The Direct Powder Application - For dogs washed at a pet store or grooming facility with free-draining surfaces, this one's particularly useful. Once the paws are wet from the wash, lift each paw and sprinkle a small amount of the powder directly onto the surface, then work it gently between the toes and into the pad. It's a more targeted application that gets the formula exactly where it needs to go. This is a practical hack that genuinely works.
  5. The Face and Body Wipe - The Paw and Body Soak isn't just for paws. The formula contains sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) which makes it an effective general cleanser for skin anywhere on the body. Some of our customers use a diluted solution to gently wipe their dog's face, cheeks, and skin folds, where dirt and moisture can accumulate and cause irritation. Use a soft cloth and pat dry.

Getting the Most From Any Method

  • Follow up with the Fur Love Moisture Balm after cleansing for best results. The soak cleanses and calms, and the balm seals in moisture and supports the skin barrier
  • Use daily during active flare-ups, and regularly as maintenance after walks
  • The formula is no-rinse, so there's no need to follow up with water unless you want to
  • For dogs with persistent paw issues, consistency matters more than method. Pick the approach your dog tolerates best and stick with it

The Paw and Body Soak works hardest when it's used regularly and the best method is simply the one your dog will let you use. Whether that's a full soak, a quick wipe, a squeeze over the paws, or a targeted powder application at the groomer, the formula does the same job every time.
