"My french bulldog has really itchy skin and was always licking her feet so they'd always be red. Our vet recommended Fur Love and we used the balm and foot soak that instantly made a huge difference, she pretty much never licks her feet now and they're not red anymore! (also it smells delicious)."

Labrador retriever

Their coats are heavy shedders and hold a lot of moisture and scent, so they do need regular washing. Brushing weekly will remove dandruff, dust and any excess skin cell build-up. Cleansing with both a shampoo and conditioner will work magic to reduce dirt and debris. Your furniture will thank you for it! They are predisposed to developing skin allergies so check them over for redness, itchiness and other irritations. Use a topical moisture balm to aid dry, itchy and irritated areas. Their elbows, hocks and other bony protrusions take the brunt of the pressure when they sleep. This overtime can cause these patches to thicken and become quite dry, so applying the moisture balm on these patches can help them from getting dry and irritated.

French bulldog

It is important to manage French bulldog skin allergies. Their single smooth coat can get dry and itchy, and they develop habits of scratching, chewing and biting. Maintain natural oils with lipid rich products, incorporating conditioning fur masks and balms into their routines. Keep those face wrinkles clean and dry to prevent infections by using the gentle Paw & Body Soak. This product can be used as a wipe and is easy to dry without causing a big fuss. If you find your Frenchie's paws are always irritated, start using our Paw Care Duo. Being low to the ground also means they are in contact with external allergens like grass when on adventures, so cleaning is recommended as a daily routine. Use the paw & body soak or pH balanced shampoo. Occasional brushing is required usually when shedding, to remove dust and add shine. Don’t forget to keep the base of their tails clean too.

West highland terrier

Westies require a lot of work when it comes to grooming. Most pet parents will book them in regularly to see a groomer. They need to be stripped or clipped by a groomer for coat health. They look fluffy and soft but their coat is actually quite stiff and wiry, serving as a protective barrier so daily brushing and combing are essential. When bathing and drying the coat, make sure to bathe and dry in the direction the coat grows. It's easy to dry their coat out so it’s vital to use nourishing high quality products like our Manuka Honey Shampoo paired with the Conditioning Fur Mask, which are rich in omegas and lipids. This will also protect their skin and coat from allergens. Being low to the ground also means they are in contact with external allergens like grass so cleaning after adventures is recommended as a daily routine. Paw chewing, stained fur and itchy skin are commonly seen in Westie.

Staffordshire bull terrier

Don't let these smooth-coated terriers fool you - they are prone to dry skin, itchiness and sensitivities. Contact allergy flare-ups are a common occurrence due to the lack of fur on their bodies. Hydration and protection are key. So regular washing with our lush Manuka Honey Shampoo and Conditioning Fur Mask will help keep their skin barrier healthy. Using the Paw & Body Soak as a wipe down after being around irritants will be a quick fix and keep the Moisture Balm or Oil for flare-ups.

SHOP FOR STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER

Shih Tzu

These furry friends have gorgeous coats that you can have some real fun with at the groomer! Regular visits to the groomer will be needed, but doing maintenance care in-between visits is really important. Daily brushing dependent on the cut. Although their hair grows longer than the average dog, they don’t shed nearly as much as other breeds. Keeping on top of tangles, knots, beard and paw cleanliness should keep them looking their best. Use the Conditioning Fur Mask to help with getting the stubborn debris and dirt out while also helping with detangling and keep them soft and silky. Being low to the ground also means they are in contact with external allergens like grass so cleaning after adventures or when showing signs of flare-ups should be a daily routine.

Greyhound

Dry, flaky, allergy-prone skin and coats are common problems. Most retired greyhounds have some kind of skin problem. Bald thigh syndrome is a common problem, with bare thighs, neck, chest and stomach. To improve overall skin and coat health, use products that are gentle and hydrating so as not risk losing any more fur. Our Shampoo is rich in omegas and has healing honey that will work best with the Conditioning Fur Mask to ensure your Greyhound keeps hydrated and healthy. Moisture Balm and the oil will penetrate through the layers to properly aid their skin and coat - working on stubbornly dry and bare areas. Their thin coat lacks protection against sunburn, blackheads, allergies and hot spots so being diligent with a routine is vital. The most common issue is thin, cracked greyhound paws. Use the Paw & Body Soak paired with a Moisture Balm to keep their paws healthy and instantly hydrated.

Sharpei

The Sharpei is prone to skin infections because the folds of the skin are usually moist. Bacteria and yeast thrive in the folds causing redness, odours and discomfort. Daily wiping and drying the skin folds can help reduce infection.
Their thin coat also means they have less protection to environmental allergens and often get irritations. Weekly bath time is important and if they have been around irritants in between bath times, use the spritz as a wipe down to wipe the allergens off the skin. Alternatively use the Fur Love pH balanced shampoo. Keep their paws, skin and coat nourished and moisturised with the Moisture Balm which will add an extra barrier of protection.

Poodle

Poodles aren't big shedders, but they make good friends with your dog groomer. They require clipping regularly and home maintenance of brushing and washing to prevent knots and tangles. Prone to some typical poodle skin problems, it's essential to keep their skin hydrated and nourished. Rinse allergens off after outdoor adventures and keep clean without dehydrating their skin. Use our Manuka Honey Shampoo and Conditioning Fur Mask which will keep them replenished. Pay attention to early signs of itchy, dry or red spots, especially around the paws, and use any of our gentle cleansers, followed by the balm or oil.

SHOP FOR POODLE

English Bulldog

Their short single coats are smooth, glossy and fine. They need daily grooming and upkeep because of their folds and wrinkles. Bacteria and yeast thrive in the folds causing redness, odours and discomfort. Daily wiping and drying the skin folds can help reduce infection. The single coat is also prone to external allergens if the skin and coat are not kept hydrated. Use the moisture balm and/or the fur & body oil to keep skin healthy and target any irritated areas directly. Being low to the ground also means they are in contact with external allergens like grass so cleaning after adventures or when showing signs of flare-ups should be a routine.

Labradoodle

These guys can have a range of coat types but all need regular grooming to help with skin issues, tangles and knots and odour. Check their bodies for dandruff, dry or red skin which can easily get flared up from external allergens. Brushing daily and using the Conditioning Fur Mask will help keep them shiny, soft and tangle-free. Due to the furry beards, they can trap a lot of moisture, food and bacteria, so beard cleaning will make those kisses even better. Due to the formation of their floppy, furry ears, they are predisposed to ear infections so talk to your vet or groomer on showing you how to clean them safely as ears can be delicate.

Cavoodle

Usually Cavoodles are not big on shedding, but still be aware some humans can be allergic to their dander. These gorgeous creatures need brushing daily to keep the skin healthy and tangles at bay. Having a strict regular skin and coat routine will help keep their skin nourished and tangle-free. A lot of cavoodles will regularly go to the groomers for clipping. Some cavoodles will get tear stains if they don’t get daily eye cleaning. Due to the formation of their floppy, furry ears, they are predisposed to ear infections, so talk to your vet or groomer on showing you how to clean them safely as ears can be delicate.

Pug

We all love the look of pugs, but those beautiful folds can hold food, bacteria, yeast and other gunk that need almost daily wiping. Because these dogs are prone to infections, odour can be a problem, so keeping them washed regularly and topping them up with a balm, oil or spritz can help. Being low to the ground also means they are in contact with external allergens like grass so cleaning after adventures or when showing signs of flare-ups will be a routine.
